The Registered Psychologist will provide culturally responsive, holistic, strength-based psycho-educational assessments to ISETS clients and SIIT students in Saskatchewan, to identify and diagnose potential intellectual and cognitive barriers. This is carried out by establishing and enhancing trusting and supportive relationships with First Nations Service Providers, Indigenous Communities and internal SIIT Administration through mutual respect, sharing and collaboration in support of team initiatives. Results of assessments synthesize formal and informal assessments and recommendations that are evidence-based. The purpose of the assessment is to identify strengths, need, available supports within the community, and to access equipment to foster barrier reduction and sustained employment. Service responsibilities would include both urban locations (Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert) and rural ASETS service delivery locations. As an employee of SIIT, the Registered Psychologist role are accountable to the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists' ethical guidelines as well as aligning their work with the performance standards, direction, and values of SIIT. The Registered Psychologist will abide by the Ethical Guidelines outlined by the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists and have the ability to identify and diagnose neurological disorders (APE) as well as intellectual and cognitive barriers. Collaboration with the client, Learning specialist, community case manager, and student support team to construct appropriate and relevant recommendations, based on these assessments, is vital to assisting them to foster success.
Referrals for Psychology occur when a student/client has indicators as identified by ASETS Service delivery agencies or Academic Supports team. This process is in respect to established Academic Supports referral process in close collaboration with the Academic Supports team.
The Registered Psychologist will complete formal and informal assessments of Students/clients in order to establish relevant and evidence-based recommendations. The incumbent will work closely with the Academic Support team as well as other SIIT staff and key community service delivery agencies/members/organizations. This position includes the following accountabilities:
• Gathering pertinent information through file reviews, formal and informal interviews, previous assessments and reports, and observations.
• Administering formal psycho-educational assessments within the cognitive, social, emotional, academic, and behavioral domain with student/clients.
• Diagnosing intellectual and cognitive barriers in adults utilizing the DSM 5, the latest research, and collaboration with the medical field.
Program Development and Administration
• Supporting and being accountable for the alignment of all psychology business, performance standards, and direction with the values and strategic plan of SIIT.
• Leading and supporting continuous improvement regarding the impact of trauma and mental health conditions on performance.
• Providing in-service/professional development and collaboration.
• Respecting the vision, leadership, and conceptualization of an evidence-based service delivery model within Student Supports and Community Service Delivery Agencies.
• Consulting with and supporting colleagues to advocate for meeting the needs of Student/clients.
• Maintaining appropriate files and records according to privacy legislation, SKCP Ethical Guidelines, and SIIT
A Master's degree in Educational Psychology and licensure with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists with APE. Areas of competency should include assessment and counselling. A minimum of five years of practical experience working in inclusive education is recommended. The incumbent must possess a valid driver's license as travel is required, along with a current driver's abstract from SGI rating a safe driving record. A criminal record check & vulnerable sector search will also be needed.
As this position is considered safety sensitive, the incumbent will be subject to testing as per SIIT's Alcohol and Substances policy.
